Dr. Rohit Patel is a sociologist and social researcher whose academic work focuses on unorganized and migrant labor,
social inequality, Dalit and tribal studies, and sustainable development.
Academic Qualifications
He completed his B.A. (Honours) in Sociology (2017) and M.A. in Sociology (2019) in First Division from Banaras Hindu University.
He was awarded a PhD in Sociology in 2024 from BHU.
Doctoral Research
His PhD research examined the socio-economic conditions of migrant workers in the unorganized construction sector
in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
Fellowships and Membership
Dr. Patel is a recipient of UGC-JRF (2018, 2019) and UGC-SRF (2022). He is a Life Member of the Indian Sociological Society
and holds additional certifications in English and Yoga.
Research and Publications
He has published research articles in national and international journals on migrant labor, social inequality,
environmental issues, Dalit and tribal movements, and education policy. He has also contributed chapters to edited volumes.
Academic Engagement
Dr. Patel has presented papers at several national and international seminars and conferences and is actively engaged
in research methodology, data analysis, social policy, SDGs, and contemporary social issues.

His research connects historical Girmitiya experiences with contemporary migrant labor issues, enriching the council’s
academic, policy, and social discourse.
